The Watchmen of the Last Days: Preparing for the End Times

Watchman:


One who guards against possible harm to people or property, often during the night, and who may sound an alarm in the face of threatened danger.

In ancient Israel, the watchman was responsible for alerting the people of approaching threats, walking the perimeter to insure the integrity of the wall wasn't compromised, and acted as a witness to everyday events if need be. And as watchmen were responsible for the physical well being of the city or town, church leaders were responsible for the spiritual well being of the children of God.


Isaiah 62:6  
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence ...



With such a divine endorsement, nothing could possible go wrong, right? RIGHT??

Jeremiah 6:17

Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.



Isaiah 56:10


His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

So what happened?

We happened.

Sin happened.

Because of Hermeneutics and Denominationalism, many Christian churches are divided against one another, and Biblically backed truth is rejected because of traditions within those sects. And amid all this confusion, Satan creates much strife within the body of Christ, seeking small victories with each soul he claims.

One thing we need to understand is that we can agree to disagree on parts of scripture that does not conflict with the Word of God, we are brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ, and we should be united in the name of Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

We need to take the position of the watchman seriously in the church. The duties of a watchman are straightforward, but the love of the world and our sinful nature makes it difficult at times, and we have to fight to overcome cowardice and the need to preserve our social needs, our possessions, and even our freedoms and our lives; we must overcome these things as Christians for the sake of our souls and those around us. Many are called, but few are chosen.

We are called to watch and pray as Christians, and that includes observing the prophetic timeline, through the Word of God and the testament of history.
